We make every effort to identify what is important to our customers by reading surveys, conducting research, and talking to consumers. We also listen to our family businesses to determine the values and motivations that are important to them. Listening to people helps us develop the program standards that make us an effective bridge between producer and consumer.
Once our standards are developed, we work with business owners and staff to help them understand why the standards are important to us and the consumer. Reviewing what they are currently doing, we work with them to implement protocols that meet the program standards but are also practical and easily worked into daily routines.
After designing the protocols, our production team travels to each farm to train everyone in the steps necessary to meet all our standards. We train the staff to record information about each animal and send that information to a central office so we can monitor everything happening to our pigs.
We embrace a philosophy of transparency and continuous improvement.
Our farmers and staff are creative and innovative and often have ideas that improve the entire process. When appropriate, we incorporate these ideas into our protocols and share them with all our farms and businesses.
