Consumer health is important to us and we have established protocols to protect our pork at every stage. Pork ranks as one of the safest food products to eat and ours is even more so.
Since we do not use antibiotics, our focus is on prevention. We begin with healthy breeding stock. Our maternity wards facilitate natural interaction, helping piglets get a good start with natural colostral immunity from their mothers’ milk. Then we use vaccines, just as humans do, to prevent pigs from getting sick.
Occasionally a pig will get sick and need antibiotic care. We segregate that pig in a hospital area so we monitor it and ensure it is sold into a commodity market and not our Natural Pork market.
We establish protocols for our feed mills and review every batch of feed delivered to our farms to ensure it is good, nutritious, and free of growth promotants, hormones, animal byproducts, and artificial chemicals.
Our pigs are transported on clean, well inspected trucks. Our drivers receive extensive training on humane and sanitary procedures for handling our animals.
At our processing plant, our line speed is slow to ensure the workers are safe and that they have time to do their job and inspect each carcass and we implement food safety standards beyond the minimum requirements of the USDA.
